WaheguruJeeKaaKhalsa WaheguruJeeKeeFateh!

Sangat Jee,

The sevadaars found some old photos in relation to the 1978 Amritsar Massacare, we scanned them and uploaded them for the Sangat. We did check the internet to see if they were anywhere else, sorry if we have duplicated the upload.

Also some sevadaars attended the 2007 Dehli Smagham. We tried to take pictures of what was happening around the Smagham as there are many photos of the actual Keertan and Keertanees. So we have uploaded photos of the Sangat, Langar Seva, Gursikhs etc…

Overall impression of the Smagham is that the Pyaar Dehli Gursikhs show to Gursikhs abroad and other parts of India is something worth experiencing. You read stories about how smaghams in the old days were arranged and how Gursikhs do Seva night and Day, but to actually see it happening was inspirational. Some Gursikhs didn’t attend the actual Keertan, they were doing Langar Di seva or Transport Seva or Accomodation seva all the time.

In Smaghams in the west we are lucky if we get Sangat in their Hundreds, but Gursikhs were arranging accomodation, Langar and Transport for Sangat in their Thousands. If anyone thought eating would be a problem at the Smagham rest assured the Langar was made by Gursikhs and no one we knew had any problems.

The amazing thing was to see the sevadaars always have a smile on their face and have time to talk to Gursikhs and then and there try and resolve any issues which might have come up.

They truely do ‘Sevatothemax’ and one can only ask Guru Jee to bless them with more Seva and also bless us to try harder than we do.

Hope you enjoy the pics, click on the below link:

Gurmat Camp 2007

Monday, January 7th, 2008

WaheguruJeeKaaKhalsa WaheguruJeeKeeFateh!

The photo’s for the Gurmat Camp and the Trip have been finally uploaded, you can view them in the Gallery section of this website. Below is a summary of the camp.

The camp itself has been running for nearly 12 years. The first few camps were set up and run by Gursikhs from Slough and then it was gradually passed to Gursikhs in the Midlands. The Camp theme this year was Sant - Saphai (Saint Soldier). The past few years the camp has been run on a Zone setup, where there is a number of zones which each class visits in the duration of the camp. Normally there are 8 Zones, which include a Fun and Acitivity Zone. This year the Zones consisted of Sant, Saphai, Simran, Gurbani, Gurdwara and Story Zones.

The main philosophy behind the Camp is to instill Gursikhi principles in a Fun environment for the Kids. The 14+ group which consisted of more than 40 people had for the first time a dedicated Camp to themselves and didn’t attend the Zones except for Activity Zone. Preparation for the Camp began in November and a lot of sevadaars were involved from a early stage to make the Camp a success. We also decided to arrange a trip for the Kids on the day after the Camp in which we took them to a Museum in Birmingham called the ‘Think Tank’, being more of a educational trip the overall impression we received from the Kids was that they had a lot of fun.

Overall feedback from the Kids and Parents was that the Camp was a Huge Success, we hope Guru Jee keep’s blessing us to continue this seva, as the Children are the Future for Sikhi and if Camps and classes are not setup where do they go and learn about their religion.

We would like to thank all the Sevadaars Old and New who participated in the Camp, without your time and effort the Camp cannot continue, may Guru Jee always bless you in this Seva. We would also like to thank the Gurdwara Comittee and members who helped in the running of the camp and arranging the external venue which we needed for the 14+ group. Also without the Sangat the Camp is nothing and the External Speakers and sevadaars who came and joined in, we hope you come back next year and thank you for coming this year.

Last but not least we would like to thank all those who participated in making the Langar, the Camp has become famous due the Dedication and Hardwork the sevadaars put in making the Langar, the huge variety of food and the amount of work that was put in during the Camp and Trip was amazing.

On a small note, we have a Khalsa Club class which is for kids upto 14 Years old on every Friday 6pm-7pm at the Gurdwara and a elder class taken by Bhia Joginder Singh Jee which now runs every fortnight starting this week. Please  try and attend.
